Worms in Cadbury Chocolates
After the incidences of worms found in Cadbury chocolates we conducted a surrey with 50 shopkeepers with conclusion of faulty wrappers forcing company to market Cadbury in new double wrappers.

Dirt in soft drinks
Sealed bottle of chota Thumps-up with obvious dirt hanging inside was handed over to us. Arogya Sena persuaded the matter with FDA which reported it to be rubber like matter and raided the bottling plant of Thumps-up foul smelling tetra pack of Fruity was also handed over to AS. FDA confirmed it be some putrefying material but failed to take action against the manufacturers.

Shortage of Rabies Vaccine
After Haffkine Institute stopped the production of ARV. Poor people were forced to purchase ARV at unaffordable price as took up the issue and forced Government health institution. AROGYA SENA also suggested intrademal administration for which 1/10th dose is sufficient, which a scientifically proven mode of administration.

Safety of water bodies at tourist spots and swimming pools

Every year few hundred lives are lost by drowning at tourist spots and in swimming pools. As conducted a survey and examined safety aspects of swimming pools from Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad area and found no international safety norms. After this As appealed to respective municipal corporations to supervise the safety norms and even suggested a safety protocol to state Gove. For tourists pots. Government in still apathetic about these mishaps.

Biological waste Disposal

As conducted a wide spread survey with medical practitioners widespread, hospitals and laboratories from Pune and around found overall ignorance about biological waste disposal. An appeal was made to the medical fraternity to follow the biological waste protocol strictly

Use of National Language on Wrappers of Food products and Medicines

Use of National Language on Wrappers of Food products and Medicines was demanded by AROGYA SENA two years back. In November 2006, Hon, Ramvilas Paswan, cabinet minister for chemicals ordered use of national language for medicines wrappers.

Worms in Indian Noni (An ayurvedic product)

Two citizens handed over bottles of Indian Noni with worms to AROGYA SENA which were handed over to FDA and an action was demanded against the manufacturers.

Fungus in IV bottles

A prominent surgeon ,owner of a renowned hospital handed over IV bottles with fungus hanging inside. AROGYA SENA persuaded the matter with FDA which has yet to take action against the manufacturer.

Hygiene of food and drinks available with stalls and hawkers

AROGYA SENA is continuously demanding a strict protocol, supervision and punishment to food sellers who fail to follow basic hygiene norms.

A lead factory, Tandon Metals, causing ghastly pollution at Markal, Tal. Khed, Dist. Pune

The villagers filed a petition in Jan 06 with Arogya Adalat. After this AROGYA SENA took a series of protest meetings publicly, with Government authorities, held a massive protest march on Collector’s office. The factory owner installed four antipollution systems which has reduced pollution levels substantially.

Garbage Depot run by PMC at Uruli Devachi Phursungi

Villages from Phursungi presented this issue to AROGYA ADALAT in June 06. PMC runs this garbage depot on 110 acres of land without following any safety norms laid by Maharashtra Pollution Control Board. MPCB has sent a legal repriminder to PMC for using a wrong location in a wrong way. AROGYA SENA organized a massive protest march on PMC and has received an assurance from PMC that it will be shifted soon to other proper sites. Even state Government has taken note of the issue.

Anti-ragging commando squad

After incidence of a medical student landing up with Acute Renal Failure due to Rhabdomyslysis caused by physical torture during ragging, Sept 06, AROGYA SENA has established this squad ,to begin with at Pune, which will rush to the rescue of the ragging victims and handover the criminicals to the law.

Potholes on Pune roads

AROGYA SENA organized a human chain and closed the door of PMC for 15 minutes, symbolically, to warn PMC (Sept 06) against miserable condition of Pune roads. After this Mayor of Pune ordered the PMC officials to repair the roads in four days or else threatened to resign. PMC repaired majority of roads, though temporarily.AROGYA SENA has asked PMC to repair the roads permanently.

Epidemics of Dengue, Chikungunya

AROGYA SENA held special Adalat to mass educate people on Dengue and Chikungunya after recent outbreak of these deadly epidemics and criticized PMC and Government for their inability to maintain proper public cleanliness.

Privatization of Government Hospitals (Nov 06)

AROGYA SENA held special Adalat to protest against the policy of PMC to handover PMC hospitals which serve poor, to private organization.

Reduction of VAT on life saving equipments especially Ventilators

AROGYA SENA is demanding since last budget that VAT on life saving equipments be reduced to 4% from 12.5 %.

Meager Provision for health in central Budget

AROGYA SENA is been consistently demanding that provision for health should be raised from 0.9% of GDP to at least 2% initially and later up to 5%.Then and then only poorest of the poor will get basic health care.
